DC Comics has announced a new digital-first anthology series, “Sensation Comics Featuring Wonder Woman,” which is scheduled to debut digitally in August, and in print on Aug. 20. The first story will be written by long-time former “Wonder Woman” scribe Gail Simone and illustrated by DC mainstay Ethan Van Sciver, who previously collaborated together on “The Fury of Firestorm: The Nuclear Men.”
Like prior digital-first anthologies “Legends of the Dark Knight” and “Adventures of Superman,” “Sensation Comics” will tell stories outside of mainline New 52 continuity — which is apparent right from the first story, a team-up starring Wonder Woman and Oracle — Barbara Gordon’s pre-New 52 identity and another character closely associated with Simone.
“Giving Wonder Woman her own digital anthology series makes perfect sense,” Hank Kanalz, DC Comics, senior VP of Vertigo and Integrated Publishing, said in a statement toIGN. “With this series creators can dream up unique takes on the Amazon Princess to give fans a new adventure every week. We’re very excited about the line-up, and readers won’t want to miss the sensational action-packed Wonder Woman stories we have planned for the coming weeks and beyond.”
