Dell’s and 17R models with Intel third-generation Core processors that first surfaced in Australia in May are now up for sale in the US. In addition to the revised internals, Dell has introduced a Special Edition model in both ranges that incorporates a special anodized aluminum Stealth Black honeycomb finish with matching palm rest. Both models also come preinstalled with Adobe Photoshop Elements and Premier Elements as well.
The 17R Special Edition high-end model ships with a 3D 1080p display and Blu-ray player. Memory can be configured up to 8GB of RAM with a choice of Ivy Bridge quad-core processors as well as an Nvidia GT650M with up to 2GB of VRAM. Users can also option models with Skull Candy speakers as well as SSD drives. The 15R Special Edition gets a similar set of specifications including a backlit keyboard.
The Dell Inspiron 15R range starts from $550, although the entry model starts with a second-gen Sandy Bridge Core i3 processor. The entry level Inspiron 17R starts from $600 and is similarly specified.
