Dell Teases New 23-inch Monitor on YouTube

Dell has released a video on YouTube (see below) to tease the forthcoming release of its latest 23-inch LED-backlit monitor, the S2330MX. The thin flat-panel monitor’s full specifications and price have yet to be released, but it offers full HD resolution (1920×1080) with a 16:9 aspect ratio, W-LED backlighting for strong energy efficiency, and DVI and VGA interfaces with a DVI-to-HDMI adapter included.

Apart from the retail price, the big questionis the type of panel the display uses. The low 2ms response time mentioned in the video would suggest a TN panel, the lowest-cost of the main consumer panels — known for its poor side-angle viewing, but fine for straight-head work. Recent Dell monitors, however, have often used the higher-quality (but more expensive) VA panels, still considered slightly below the IPS panels used in other brands of higher-quality monitors but offering a much wider viewing angle (178 degrees) with less “color wash” when viewing from the side.

The S2330MX 23-inch display is expected to be available worldwide beginning Thursday, August 18th at most retail outlets as well as directly from Dell.com.
