Digital Storm unveiled a new gaming laptop called the VELOCE , packing a 13.3 inch Full HD LED-lit screen, an Intel Core i7 4800MQ processor, a Nvidia GeForce GTX 765M GPU and more in a slim, portable design. Pricing starts at $1,535, and the portable gaming rig will be made available on July 17 directly from Digital Storm.
Currently the laptop portion of Digital Storm’s website is closed off with a countdown timer and a message stating: “We’re working on a new line of ‘awesome’ gaming laptops. Featuring completely new models with new custom finish options! It’ll be worth the wait!”
That said, there won’t be a link to the new laptop for another six days. Meanwhile, Digital Storm’s email states that the upcoming laptop will weigh a mere 4.6 pounds (including battery) and measure only 1.26 inches thick. It’s “aggressive” esthetic matches its powerful configuration, the company said, with Digital Storm’s signature finish featuring a blood red logo slicing across the notebook’s black top cover. A cold silver and grey interior surrounds the backlit keyboard.
According to the list of specs, the laptop will pack the Core i7-4800MQ quad-core processor (up to 3.7 GHz and 6 MB of Cache), 8 GB of DDR3 RAM @ 1600 MHz (2x 4 GB sticks), an 8x DVD writer optical drive, and a hybrid storage configuration spanning a 750 GB 7200 RPM HDD and an 8 GB SSD. Networking will be handled by a Killer Wireless-N 1202 Wireless module.
“Other key features include room for two storage drives (mSATA & 2.5 inch) with RAID capability, a dedicated internal network port, SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ports, HDMI 1.4, VGA video out ports and Bluetooth connectivity,” the company said. Windows 8 64-bit Edition will be the platform of choice.
