Stephany Folsom has been brought onboard to pen the fourth film in the Toy Story franchise, taking over the script of a project which has stalled in recent years.
The sequel, Toy Story 4, is still dated for release June 21st 2019.
Folsom did some uncredited work on Thor: Ragnarok and penned the Black List script 1969: A Space Odyssey Or: How Kubrick Learned To Stop Worrying And Land On The Moon about a publicist who convinces filmmaker Stanley Kubrick to work with NASA in order to fake the moon landing.
Rashida Jones and her writing partner Will McCormack were originally writing the project but exited a while back over creative and philosophical differences. Some have speculated the exit was due to an overture made by fallen Pixar CCO John Lasseter but Jones has denied this.
Additionally Game Change and The Butler writer Danny Strong has been tapped to pen the script for a Disney remake of the beloved musical Oliver! with Tony winner Thomas Kail (Hamilton) set to direct.
Though branded a cross-genre musical version (with hip-hop) of the Dickens public domain title, sources say it’s basically a straight-up remake of the iconic Lionel Bart musical adaptation which debuted in London in 1960 and was adapted to film by Carol Reed in 1968.
In this take Ice Cube will be playing the villainous Fagin. Cube, Marc Platt and Jeff Kwatinetz are producing.
