DoJ May Investigate Facebook, Twitter For Interfering With ‘Free Exchange of Ideas’

The Department of Justice said it has met with the attorneys general of some states over what it says is Facebook’s “[intentional] stifling the free exchange of ideas.”

The DOJ’s viewpoint came to light after executives from Facebook and Twitter testified before Congress about their policies for policing content on their respective platforms. Some believe the social networks are excluding conservative voices.

“The attorney general has convened a meeting with a number of state attorneys general this month to discuss a growing concern that these companies may be hurting competition and intentionally stifling the free exchange of ideas on their platforms,” said DOJ spokesperson Devin O’Malley.

Facebook and Twitter have both denied such charges
