Mobotap’s alternative browser for iOS, Dolphin (free), has been updated (to version 7.2 for iPhone, and v6.2 for iPad), which fixes a number of troublesome bugs and other issues. The new stable release addresses a major problem with formatting Evernote text, and corrects a problem that causes pages to display incorrectly while scrolling. Another change prevents the password dialog from appear when it isn’t needed.
The browser, which is available for both iOS and Android, distinguishes itself by offering a more customizable style along with extensive voice and gesture support. For example, users can simply speak “Wikipedia” to be taken there, or draw a custom shape that is associated with their favorite web site rather than typing in the URL.
In October, Dolphin launched the Jet Pack add-on, that enhances HTML5 and JavaScript performance by leveraging more of the mobile device’s GPU.
Also fixed in the latest update was a bug that prevented Google.com from being shown in desktop view.
