The hit iPhone game Doodle Jump, a perennial favorite with casual gamers that has put the app on the top of the iTunes App Store game charts for months, have debuted an iPad-specific version of the game for $3. Apart from re-done graphics and a few features suited to the larger screen of the iPad, the game remains essentially the same as the iPhone version. The iPad app features an exclusive multi-player racetrack theme along with Open Feint and Game Center support.
The iPhone original (which is available separately for $1) has sold over 10 million copies. Lima Sky, the development company, hopes to do as well with the iPad version. The game has been featured in iPhone commercials and was even mentioned specifically on an episode of the cult sitcom “The Big Bang Theory.”
The game has been described as so addictive that the developers have felt compelled to put a reminder in promotional copy cautioning players not to play while driving. The iPad version requires iOS 3.2 or later.
