Nintendo has stepped in and confirmed that Dragon Quest XI is definitely coming to its new console, the Switch.
The game is a very important game in Japan, as it taps into the very long running and much loved Dragon Quest series. The fact that it is coming to the PS4 and 3DS is something then that isn’t trivial for those platforms here. While we saw a great deal of new footage of the PS4 and 3DS versions, with the re-appearance of the Sword of Erdrick amongst that, the lack of any Nintendo Switch content was a bit strange.
Now, both Square Enix and Nintendo has said previously that Dragon Quest XI would be released on the Nintendo Switch but its absence in all this new footage was a concern to some fans here. Thankfully, Nintendo has stepped in and explained that Dragon Quest XI is coming to the Nintendo Switch and that has seemingly helped to calm the fanbase in Japan.
With a game as big and as anticipated as Dragon Quest XI, it was obviously in Nintendo’s best interests that it had to get involved in order to clarify the situation. As with everything Nintendo Switch related though, we will have to wait until January next year to find out more.
