Dropbox has updated its cloud storage service, adding new ways to share files. As noted on the company blog, users can now share files and folders anywhere in their Dropbox using newly created links.
Previously, folder sharing could only be done with other Dropbox users, with individual files accessible to non-users when shared through the public folder. The changes on the recently redesigned website, mobile apps, and soon on the desktop application allow for linking folders and files to anyone from anywhere in the Dropbox. Shared files can be previewed in the browser and then saved by the recipient to their computer or own Dropbox account.
This all takes place ahead of the expected Google Drive launch rumored for later this week, possibly as soon as Tuesday.
