American novelist and screenwriter Elmore Leonard passed away this morning at 7:15 a.m. from complications from a stroke. He was 87.
Leonard’s death was announced on his Facebook page. “The post I dreaded to write, and you dreaded to read — Elmore passed away at 7:15 this morning from complications from his stroke,” his researcher wrote. “He was at home [in Detroit] surrounded by his loving family.”
Among Leonard’s best-known works are “Get Shorty,” “Out of Sight,” “Hombre,” “Mr. Majestyk” and “Rum Punch,” which was filmed as Jackie Brown. Leonard’s short stories include ones that became the films 3:10 to Yuma and The Tall T, as well as the current TV series on FX, “Justified.”
