Epson will be adding AirPrint support for wireless printing to major new models of Epson inkjet printers starting next month. The support will enable users to wirelessly print from most iOS devices, including the iPhone 3GS and later, iPad and iPad 2 and the third-generation and later iPod Touch, running iOS 4.2 or later.
The company says that while not all Epson models will support AirPrint, the company plans to add support to additional models from the autumn onwards. The company is also expanding mobile and cloud printing services for other smartphones and tablets as well, allowing other internet-connected Epson printers to use remote printing for both iOS and Android devices.
The company will utilize two apps, Epson Email Print (which is coming in the fall) and the already-existing Epson iPrint. The latter is a scanning and printing application for iOS and Android devices that works with local area networks, while Email Print will allow remote users to print e-mail and file attachments to future e-mail-enabled Epson printers.
