EVGA has a huge portfolio of PSU offerings, and it currently cooperates with many major OEMs including Super Flower, Seasonic, FSP and HEC. Its G2 family, which is made exclusively by Super Flower, so far had five members with capacities ranging from 750 W to 1600 W, mostly covering users with increased needs in power.

Because many users today ask for lower capacity but high quality PSUs, EVGA added two more members in this line with the 550 G2 and the 650 G2, which as their model numbers imply have 550 W and 650 W capacities, respectively.

The 550/650 G2 units have all the features found on the rest of the G2 models, including the fully modular cabling design, 80 PLUS Gold efficiency, all protection features but OTP (Over Temperature Protection), and of course the semi-passive mode, which engages the fan only when the internal temperature of the PSU exceeds a specified threshold.

In addition, EVGA stated that the above PSUs use only Japanese capacitors, which are considered much more reliable than the Chinese versions, and the provided warranty reaches seven years, which is a rather long period of time for this category. If EVGA manages to release them on the market at low enough prices, we believe that these PSUs will claim a significant share of the sales into the mid-capacity category, because the Leadex platform on which they are based offers very strong performance and has so far proven to be highly reliable.
