Facebook today announced a brand new camera experience within its Messenger application.
The redesigned camera feature will let people take photos faster and easier, says Facebook, and it includes some fun tools for dressing up pictures. To start, the shutter button has been enlarged and relocated to the center of the screen. A short tap takes a photo while a long tap captures a video.
The app includes new 3D masks and special effects (similar to those in Snapchat) so people can apply artistic effects to their images. Facebook added thousands of new 2D stickers, frames, masks, and effects, including content from noted artists. Last, a palette icon opens a blank canvas upon which users can paste text, art, and stickers.
Facebook says it will push out the new version of Messenger with the revised camera globally over the next few days.
