The FCC (PDF) has denied a petition to stop the informal 180-day clock as it analyzes T-Mobile‘s proposed acquisition of Sprint.
A number of organizations sought to stop the clock and delay the proceedings. Some of those in question include the Communications Workers of America, Rural Wireless Association, Public Knowledge, Free Press, and others. They argue T-Mobile and Sprint haven’t provided enough information about how much spectrum the combined entity will control, and that the information the two have submitted was not in the proper format.
T-Mobile and Sprint argued that all the information has been available since June and that the organization’s reviewing the material can reformat it however they wish.
The FCC sided with T-Mobile and Sprint, denying the motion. The agency’s review of the transaction will move forward with the original dates. Petitions to deny currently are due on August 27, 2018. The clock is running.
