Ford will recall 391,394 2004-2006 Ranger pickup, all of which were built in North American factories. The recall is due to the pickups contain driver side Takata airbag inflators that could rupture in a crash.
The faulty parts killed a Ranger driver in an accident in South Carolina on December 22, 2015. Investigators have linked the rupturing inflators to a total of ten deaths worldwide, including nine in the US, but they happened predominantly in Honda vehicles.
Ford dealers will replace the driver side airbag inflator. Owners should receive notification by mail during the week of February 22.
