Foursquare is showcasing a new feature on Super Bowl Sunday – promoted events. During the game just check in on Foursquare and you’ll see the promoted trending venue. Show your support for either the Green Bay Packers or the Pittsburgh Steelers. Giving them a virtual “Go Team!” by shouting “Go Steelers” or “Go Packers” gets you the team badge. If you are one of the lucky folks attending live in Dallas, checking in from the stadium will get you the special Super Bowl XLV badge.
Anyone who does a check-in during the game will get one of the three special event badges. The promoted events feature means that anyone who get one of the Super Bowl badges will also get a promo code to get a 20% discount on merchandise at NFL.com. This is the first system wide discount or coupon to appear on Foursquare, but success could mean that we will see more like it for future events.
