Originally rumored for a part in the series back in September, Lucasfilm has now revealed that Freddie Prinze Jr. will be providing the voice of Kanan in their upcoming series “Star Wars Rebels.” Kanan is described as a “Cowboy Jedi” in the new series, and after “Order 66” took place in “Episode III,” he’s not exactly keen to let people know that he’s a Jedi.
“He’s been forced to shove a massive part of his life under the bed, so to speak,” Prinze said. “Is he living a lie? At a certain point, the lie kind of becomes the reality. And to suddenly be forced back into your Jedi ways, it’d be a bit of a challenge for him. And pretty awesome, too, when you can see what a Jedi can actually do.”

Set between the events of “Episode III” and “IV” — an era spanning almost two decades never-before explored on-screen – “Star Wars Rebels” takes place in a time where the Empire is securing its grip on the galaxy and hunting down the last of the Jedi Knights as a fledgling rebellion against the Empire is taking shape.
The show will be produced by Lucasfilm Animation, featuring many of the key talents that made “Star Wars: The Clone Wars.” Set to debut this summer as a film on the Disney Channel, the full series is expected to debut this fall on Disney XD.
