Disney’s Frozen has officially crossed the $1 billion dollar mark at the worldwide box office, making it the 18th highest grossing film of all time.
“With ‘Frozen,’ we knew we had something truly special on our hands, and it has connected with fans and filmgoers around the world in a way we only dreamed was possible,” said Alan Horn, Chairman, The Walt Disney Studios in a press release this morning. “Animation is the cornerstone of our company, and thanks to the vision, dedication, and talent of our tremendous cast and filmmaking team, Disney Animation has come roaring back with a new classic for fans of all ages.”
Frozen is the second film to pass the $1 billion dollar mark in 2013, with Marvel’s Iron Man 3 finishing with $1.2 billion worldwide. Disney owns Marvel, so they’ve released the only two films in 2013 that have crossed the billion mark.
