FX has set the cast for Kurt Sutter’s “Bastard Executioner” pilot, announcing the ensemble on Tuesday.
Australian newcomer Lee Jones has locked down the lead, set to play Wilkin Brattle, a warrior knight in King Edward I’s charge who is spiritually tortured and broken by the ravages of war, thus vowing to lay down his sword. However, when violence finds him again, he is forced to pick up the bloodiest sword of all.
Jones will star alongside “True Blood’s” Stephen Moyer and the previously announced Katey Sagal in the period drama.
Also joining the cast is creator Kurt Sutter, Flora Spencer-Longhurst, Sam Spruell, Darren Evans, Danny Sapani, Timothy V. Murphy, Sarah White, and Sarah Sweeney. “The American’s” Matthew Rhys will guest star.
Sutter, who penned the pilot, will also serve as exec producer, alongside Brian Grazer, Francie Calfo and Paris Barclay who will direct. The project hails from Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions.
Production on the pilot begins on March 19 in Wales.
