On the heels of word that Tony Todd will be lending his voice to the upcoming episodes of The Flash, The CW has released a new piece of key art for the multiverse-spanning second season.
Jay Garrick made his debut appearance in 1940’s “Flash Comics” #1. When Barry Allen was introduced 16 years later as a rebooted version of the scarlet speedster, Allen actually took inspiration for his superhero identity from the “fictional” comics featuring Jay Garrick’s The Flash. Eventually, however, the pair would meet after it was revealed that they populated parallel Earths, Earth-1 and Earth-2, respectively.
Teddy Sears (“Masters of Sex,” “Raising the Bar”) has been cast as Jay Garrick for the upcoming season. It is said that he will be introduced as a mysterious figure who arrives in Central City to warn Barry Allen and his team at S.T.A.R. Labs of an impending danger that he alone cannot hope to stop.
The Flash stars Grant Gustin as Barry Allen/The Flash, Candice Patton as Iris West, Rick Cosnett as Eddie Thawne, Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon and Jesse L. Martin as Detective Joe West. It’s executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, David Nutter and Sarah Schechter.
The Flash will premiere its second season on Tuesday, October 6 at 8 p.m. EST.
