The early ratings arrows are pointing up for NBC and its telecast of the “73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards,” which grew a bit in the overnights.
Total-viewer estimates won’t be available until later this morning, but last night’s Golden Globes telecast hosted by Ricky Gervais averaged a 13.0 overnight household rating/20 share, according to Nielsen. This is up 3% from last year’s overnights for Tina Fey and Amy Poehler (12.6/19), which translated to 19.31 million total viewers.
Sunday’s 13.0 tops every Golden Globes from 2008-2012 and is down a tick from the 13.1 generated by the 2013 show. The highest in recent years remains the 14.1 in 2014, which led to the kudocast’s largest audience in the finals (20.87 million) in 10 years.
