Google has offered developers access to the Google Cast SDK version 3.0 for Android and iOS.
Google first discussed changes to its casting platform at the I/O developer conference in May. Google Cast allows people to push content from smartphones, tablets, and laptops to other devices, such as television sets or media players.
The revised Google Cast SDK is easier to use, more reliable, and quicker, says Google. Developers can make use of the SDK to add casting features to their own apps.
The SDK is free for developers to access and use. Google believes the simplified SDK will convince more app writers to make content cast-able.
