Google has updated its Android Wear platform to Android 8 Oreo. The number of new features is limited. For example, Oreo for Android Wear makes it possible to control the notification vibration strength and set a touch lock option for wet conditions.
The platform now supports seven new languages and countries, and adds to the list of notification channels in order to help save battery life on Android-based wearables. Google made the refreshed operating system available to its smartwatch manufacturer partners. It will be up to each individual hardware maker to work the code into their own devices.
When end users might see their Android watch updated to Oreo, Google said plainly that “timing is determined by each watch’s manufacturer.”
