Original Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy filmmaker Gore Verbinski is in talks to take the helm of the X-Men spin-off Gambit.
The project had previously had Doug Liman and Rupert Wyatt come and go as directors.
Channing Tatum stars as the card-throwing, New Orleans-based mutant who can manipulate kinetic energy and fight with a bo staff.
Tatum, Simon Kinberg, and Reid Carolin are producing.
Gambit currently has no release date.
