The news came after Comic-Con this year that The CW was considering developing a spinoff to their hit series “Arrow,” focusing on another DC character, the Flash. Now it appears that they’ve found their leading man in Grant Gustin. Best known for guest starring in a few episodes of “Glee,” Gustin will take on the role of Barry Allen in the series.
“I’m unbelievably excited,” Gustin told The Hollywood Reporter. “I’ve been a lifelong fan of DC Comics, so I can’t be more honored and can’t wait to get started.”
Gustin will appear as the character in the upcoming eighth, ninth, and 20th episodes of the new season of “Arrow,” the last of which will serve as a potential backdoor pilot for his own series. The character will begin his appearances simply as a forensic scientist and will later gain his superspeed powers. Production on Gustin’s debut episode is set to begin at the end of the month in Vancouver.
“Arrow” season 2 premieres on Wednesday, October 9th at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
