Upon the release of the first photos of the film, it was quickly apparent that Harley Quinn would be sporting a more modern outfit for the Suicide Squad movie. It was to be expected though, as the character’s fashion has shifted more in the direction of the film’s costume both in the comics and in her appearances in the “Arkham” games. However, speaking with HelloGiggles, Margot Robbie says that Harley’s original “Jester” costume almost made it into the movie.
“We tried on every variation of the costume. I cannot emphasize enough how many outfits, and how many variations of the Harley Quinn costume we tried. We tried the court jester costume, we tried the corset and skirt, we tried leather pants, we tried literally every type of costume possible for her. I really love where we ended up. And who knows, maybe in the sequels we’ll go with the court jester one. I think there’s a world of possibilities.”
It was recently reported that Warner Bros. is keen to have production on a sequel begin soon, aiming for a 2017 start date, so keep your fingers crossed.
Suicide Squad stars Will Smith (The Pursuit of Happyness, Focus) as Deadshot, Joel Kinnaman (RoboCop, Easy Money) as Rick Flagg, Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street) as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney (Divergent, The Water Diviner) as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevingne (Anna Karenina, Pan) as Enchantress, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Jay Hernandez as El DIablo, Adam Beach as Slipknot, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, and Jared Leto as The Joker.
