HBO has renewed its 1970s New York City porn scene drama The Deuce for a second season after just two episodes have aired.
David Simon and George Pelecanos created the series which James Franco and Maggie Gyllenhaal and explores twin brothers who become fronts for the mob while operating out of Times Square. In a statement, HBO’s Casey Bloys says:
“We are thrilled to continue our creative collaboration with master storytellers David Simon and George Pelecanos. Their unique gift for immersing the audience in their dark and edgy worlds brings a brilliant verisimilitude unlike any other. With the remarkably talented Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Franco leading an exceptional cast, we look forward to delving deeper as this captivating story evolves.”
The first season wraps up its eight-episode run on October 29th.
