Acclaimed composer Michael Giacchino marks his first-ever feature collaboration with Marvel Studios for Doctor Strange. Recorded at Abbey Road Studios, the score features an 80-piece orchestra conducted by Tim Simonec.
Director Scott Derrickson said, “Michael Giacchino’s score does so much more than support the visual images, it adds new, additional layers of meaning and emotion to the film. The ‘Doctor Strange’ theme is memorable, moving and yes, magical. I don’t know what the movie would be without it.”
Michael Giacchino said, “I was really excited when I got the call to score ‘Doctor Strange’ since I had been a fan as a kid. Once I saw the film, I was impressed at how well the character had stood the test of time. This rendition of ‘Doctor Strange’ gave me the opportunity to bring to life all of the crazy things I heard in my head while reading those comic books growing up in the ’70s.”
Giacchino’s credits feature some of the most popular and acclaimed film projects in recent history, including Disney•Pixar’s Inside Out, The Incredibles and Ratatouille, as well as Star Trek Beyond, Jurassic World, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. His score for Disney•Pixar’s 2009 feature Up earned him an Oscar, a Golden Globe, the BAFTA, the Broadcast Film Critics’ Choice Award and two Grammy Awards.
