HMD Global today said Arto Nummela, CEO and member of its Global Board of Directors, will leave the company effective immediately.
Florian Seiche, who has co-lead the company as president since its founding, has been appointed acting CEO in Nummela’s place.
Sam Chin, Chairman of the Board, said, “Arto Nummela has played a key role in the creation of the HMD Global operation, building the team and launching our first products. On behalf of the whole Board, I thank Arto for his contribution and wish him well in his future endeavors.”
HMD Global is the sole licensee of the Nokia brand. Earlier this year, it debuted three Android-based smartphones under the Nokia brand.
The company is widely expected to introduce a Nokia-branded Android flagship device in the weeks ahead. HMD Global did not provide a reason for Nummela’s sudden departure.
Earlier this week, HDM Global debuted the Nokia 130, an entry-level feature phone running Series 30+.
