Huawei has filed lawsuits against Samsung in the U.S. and China, alleging the smartphone maker is using its patented technology without permission.
Specifically, Huawei believes Samsung is infringing on a patent related to LTE wireless technology.
“We hope Samsung will stop infringing our patents and get the necessary license from Huawei,” said the company in a statement.
Samsung did not immediately comment on the matter.
This marks the first time a Chinese phone maker has filed a lawsuit against foreign firms; typically, Chinese firms have been the defendants in patent cases. Handset manufacturers often resort to patent lawsuits to force negotiations for royalties.
