Hulu has implemented wholesale changes to the user interface for the iPad. Starting in version 3.0 of the app, the iPad editin boasts a new UI design similar to that of the web interface. Additionally, the update fixes a number of bugs with both the iPhone/iPod Touch versions as well as the iPad.
The new iPad version allows users to minimize a playing video and search for new content. Small and short-duration chips can be viewed as a preview, giving users a better venue for evaluating content while perusing the app. Contextual selection after tapping on a program shows the first, next, or latest episode to watch, depending on the user’s history with that content.
Also added to the app are editorially-curated collections, such as previous and current E3 coverage, and improved search. The app itself is free, but with a subscription required to view all content.
