Another surprising snub from this year’s Academy Award nominations was the absence of any technical nods for director Colin Trevorrow‘s visual effects blockbuster JurassicWorld, Industrial Light & Magic (which was, itself, nominated for work this year on both The Revenant and Star Wars: The Force Awakens) has released a “Behind the Magic” Jurassic World visual effects reel that highlights exactly what went into bringing the franchise sequel to life. Check out the video in the player below!
Jurassic World went on to gross more than $1.67 billion at the worldwide box office with a cast that includes Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jake Johnson, Vincent D’Onofrio, Irrfan Khan and Judy Greer.
A Jurassic World sequel is in the works with stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard expected to reprise their roles as Owen and Claire. Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly will once again pen the script for the Jurassic World sequel, though Trevorrow will not return to direct, opting to journey to a galaxy far, far away with Star Wars: Episode IX.
It was previously reported that The Orphanage and The Impossible director Juan Antonio Bayona was in contention to direct the film, but was previously unable to due to commitments to World War Z 2. The director has since left that project, meaning he could helm the dinosaur blockbuster after all. Check back for updates as they become available.
Frank Marshall and Steven Spielberg will again produce the film, which is set for release on June 22, 2018.
