Instagram for iOS has received its first major update following Facebook moved to acquire the start up in April for $1 billion. The update includes some tweaks to the UI with a revamp of the Profile tab as well as getting the addition of an Explore section, which replaces the Popular tab. The latest Facebook tie-in is the integration of Likes, which is also linked to Facebookâs Open Graph.
Explore picks up a new navigational icon as well as a search bar that allows users to search for other users and tags. Additional improvements include refinements to commenting. User searches now also autocomplete based on people that users follow.
The app also includes speed enhancements with pictures and comments loading much faster than in the past. Opening the camera is now also much faster, allowing users to take their shots more quickly. There is no word on equivalent upgrade the Android app, but it is expected that it will at least maintain feature parity.
