Intel has announced the launch of the Core i9-9900KS. This move by Intel to try gain ground from AMD as it is vying for the desktop performance lead
The special edition chip for the most part is a specially-binned version of their 8-core, 16-thread Core i9-9900K CPU (binning comes after manufacture, where the chip is tested and found to be the top the performers). This version of the chips runs at an unprecedented 5.0 GHz all-core turbo frequency out of the box. On top of that, it also boasts a 400 MHz higher base frequency of 4.0 GHz (compared to 3.60 GHz with the 9900K.
The New CPU has a recommended price of $513-$524. Sadly early retail pricing has the CPU in the $600 range.
The chip was first teased during Computex in May.
