Hollywood Treasure is an engaging new show premiering tonight on the Syfy network at 10 and 10:30 PM ET/PT. It catalogs the adventures of Joe Madallena and his crew at Profile in History, and their business of tracking down and auctioning entertainment memorabilia. On each episode, we get to watch Joe and the rest of the team travel the country to track down items for their upcoming auction, get a peek into the history of the featured items and then watch the excitement as the auction takes place.
During his many years in the memorabilia trade, Joe and his team, which currently includes: Brian Chanes, Jon Mankuta and Tracy McCall, have unearthed a variety of interesting pieces. Among the items featured during the upcoming 12 episodes are a Jupiter II space pod from the classic TV series “Lost in Space”, a carpet bag from the movie “Mary Poppins” the lived in a Midwest family’s basement, and the iconic Wicked Witch of the West hat worn by Margaret Hamilton in “The Wizard of Oz”.
We also get take a peek at other collections as Joe visits actress MaryAnne Wells and her assortment of costumes and props from her stay on Gilligan’s island and a Midwest artist with a passion for Batman who has hand built his very own Batmobile.
He has exclusive agreements with both Michael Bay’s company and Sony to auction items from their productions.
Joe Madallena, took a few moments to speak with Doug from ToT about the show and the world of movie and TV collecting. Profiles in History’s next auction on Nov. 6 includes Identity Disks from the film Tron Legacy before the movie is even released. Also available are item from the movie “Back to The Future” from the personal collection of creator Bob Geale. You can see the whole line up in the auction catalog. Doug also talks with Joe about the auction of items from “LOST”, a subject that won’t be covered in “Hollywood Treasure”.
