Iomega has released an updated Mac Edition of the eGo Portable Hard Drive. 500GB and 1TB capacities are available, and each unit includes two FireWire 800 ports in addition to a USB 2.0 connection. HFS+ formatting is used, along with 256-bit AES encryption.
One difference with the new hardware is a revised external design, meant to make the drive more “elegant and cool.” Special casing is meanwhile used to protect it from falls up to seven feet. A 500GB unit is listed at $180, while 1TB costs $230.
