Amazon Studios will be turning author Lee Child’s Jack Reacher into a big-budget drama series with the streamer officially handing out a straight to series order.
Nick Santora (Prison Break) will serve as showrunner on the Amazon series which will be based on Child’s best-selling global book series, with the first season adapting the first of the novels The Killing Floor.
The books have sold more than 100 million copies to date and follow a military veteran who lives a nomadic life as a freelance investigator and problem-solver. The series promises to boast a star who will be a much closer approximation of the book character – tall, blond and built like a tank – than “Jack Reacher” film star Tom Cruise was.
Santora will executive produce the series alongside Child, Don Granger, Scott Sullivan, Christopher McQuarrie, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Marcy Ross for Amazon Studios, Skydance Television, and Paramount Television.
