While Halloween this year will lack a Halloween flick , the following two witching months of October 2020 and October 2021 won’t!
Jamie Lee Curtis will be reprising her role of Laurie Strode for both films, dubbed Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends, and during her appearance at the Saturn Awards recently she was asked by Collider why she was so excited to return to the role.
She indicates it was because the 2018 revival was about “trauma” and how her interest in that element will continue in the new sequels which expand the scope of the theme beyond the Strode family:
“What I love that David [Gordon Green] and Danny [McBride] and company did is they connected the dots for forty years, now they’re going back to really unpack the first movie, bringing back all those characters whose lives were affected by what happened in 1978.”
Curtis also promises a “sensational” trilogy capper which is a deeper examination of violence in our society:
“…And then the last movie is the sort of cultural phenomenon of violence, that’s what the third movie ultimately is, a very powerful examination of violence. It comes at it from a slightly different way. You’ll like it…. If you believe in me at all, I promise you what David Gordon Green has come up with as a way to complete this trilogy is sensational.”
Halloween Kills arrives October 16th 2020, while Halloween Ends drops on October 15th 2021.
