The project first announced last month, Tom Hanks is getting ready to re-team with director Steven Spielberg for a still-untitled film about the U-2 spy plane incident. Now, Variety reports that the film will be scripted by none other than Joel and Ethan Coen!
The Coens, who previously worked with Hanks on The Ladykillers, will work from an initial draft by Matt Charman. Based on the true story of James Donovan, the project follows the American attorney who was tasked with negotiating the release of pilot Gary Powers in the wake of the 1960 international incident.
The Coens, who recently wrote and directed Inside Llewyn Davis, were revealed last week to be planning their long-gestating Hail Caesar as their next directorial effort.
Marc Platt is attached to produce alongside Spielberg.
