No stranger to small-screen vampires, Kelly Overton‘s next gig will find her picking up a crossbow and leading the hunt.
The True Blood alum has landed the title role in Syfy’s 13-episode Van Helsing, our sister site Deadline reports. The series follows Vanessa Helsing, daughter of the legendary slayer, as she is resurrected and must take back the world from bloodsuckers.
Additional castings include Jonathan Scarfe (Perception) as Axel, a Marine with vamp-fighting experience; Christopher Heyerdahl (Hell on Wheels) as Sam, another vampire survivor; Paul Johansson (One Tree Hill) as vampire leader Dimitri, David Cubitt (Ray Donovan) as John, a third survivor; and Tim Guinee (Homeland) as Flesh, a vampire “foot soldier” who clashes with Vanessa.
