When the Sony and Marvel Studios Spider-Man deal was first announced, it came with the added promise that discussions were underway for characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to appear in the solo Spider-Man movie. Now, speaking with EW, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has confirmed it will happen.
“He is in the universe now, and the fun of the universe is that characters go back and forth,” Feige tells the outlet.
Which characters might appear though? We know Spider-Man aligns himself with Tony Stark in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War, but there is still potential that the Star-Spangled Man could appear, especially after Spider-Man takes away his shield in front of everyone.
Tom Holland will make his debut as the webslinger in Captain America: Civil War before spinning his own web in an upcoming solo film joined by Marisa Tomei as Aunt May and Zendaya as another lead character named Michelle. Set to be directed by Jon Watts, the solo Spider-Man movie will be written by Vacation writers and directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein.
A co-production between Sony and Marvel Studios, Spider-Man will be released in theaters and IMAX on July 7, 2017.
