Amazon has released a minor update of the Kindle iOS app, bringing it up to v3.0.1. The new version nevertheless makes a significant change, allowing iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch users to play audio and video embedded into some Kindle titles. Previously iOS reading was limited to text and images.
Bugfixes in the update quash issues with books not being displayed in the library, and with stability and search problems related to Print Replica textbooks. The v3.0 update, released last week, made the critical addition of Retina display support for the third-generation iPad. The Kindle app runs on any device using iOS 3.2 or later.
