At CES on Monday Kingston unveiled its 1TB USB flash drive called the Kingston DataTraveler HyperX Predator 3.0. The Kingston DataTraveler has read/write speeds of up to 240MB/s and 160MB/s respectively. With a USB 2.0 connection on your computer, you will only achieve speeds of up to 30MB/s.
The price for the 1TB model has not been announced, but judging by the tag on its half-capacity sibling, it won?t be too affordable either. A comparable 512GB Kingston model costs a whopping $1750, which is $3.41 per GB, compared to $1.17 per GB for an average 128GB drive.
Kingston also announced two DataTraveler Ultimate USB 3.0 G3 drives in 32GB and 64GB capacities, with read speeds of 150MB/s and 70MB/s for writing data. The drives are also backward compatible with USB 2.0 with speed limitation, and pricing and availability hasn’t been announced.
