ABC has given a straight-to-series order to “Ten Days in the Valley,” the drama series that was shopped around with Demi Moore attached — and now will star Kyra Sedgwick. The network has ordered 10 hour long episodes. No premiere date has been set, and the project won’t head into production until 2017.
“Ten Days in the Valley” hails from “Rookie Blue” co-creator Tassie Cameron, and is produced by Skydance Television. Sedgwick is also on board to executive produce.
The series follows Jane Sadler (Sedgwick), an overworked television producer and single mother in the middle of a separation, whose life is turned upside down when her young daughter goes missing in the middle of the night. Just like her controversial police TV show, everything is a mystery, everyone has a secret, and no one can be trusted.
“10 Days in the Valley” was originally developed with Moore attached, and was shopped around to networks beginning in February of this year. Moore opted not to go forth with the project, but the show would have marked her first major television role since “General Hospital” in the ’80s.
The drama is Sedgwick’s first series regular role following TNT’s “The Closer,” which wrapped in 2012 after seven seasons. Since then, the Golden Globe and Emmy winner has recurred on “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and has had various film roles.
“Playing Jane Sadler is exactly the deep and emotionally charged role I was searching for in a series. I look forward to working with the team at Skydance, who have continuously created exceptional film and TV projects. We are all very excited that ‘Ten Days in the Valley’ has found its home on ABC,” commented Sedgwick.
