“La La Land” has just set the Golden Globes’ all-time record, as Lionsgate’s musical love note to the City of Angels claimed seven of seven trophies with its win for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.
“La La Land” claimed hardware in every other category for which it was nominated earlier in the evening: Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy (Ryan Gosling), Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy (Emma Stone), Best Director (Damien Chazelle), Best Screenplay (Chazelle), Best Original Score (Justin Hurwitz) and Best Original Song (Hurwitz et al for “City of Stars.”)
Chazelle’s musical entered Sunday night as a heavy favorite in almost every category it was nominated in, earning the highest number of nomination for any film this year.
