The Starz series “Outlander” has added another piece to its cast in Laura Donnelly.
Donnelly, who co-starred in ABC’s “Missing” in 2012, will play Jenny Fraser Murray in the series based on Diana Gabaldon’s novels. The character is the older sister of 18th century Scottish warrior Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and runs the family estate, Lallybroch, when Jamie is away. She’s married to Jamie’s best friend, Ian Murray.
Jenny also has a good relationship — at least at first — with Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe), the 20th century woman transported back in time and forced into a marriage with Jamie.
Donnelly’s other credits include “The Fall,” a British minseries distributed on Netflix here, and guest appearances on “Merlin” and “Hex.” “Outlander,” is executive produced by Ron Moore (“Battlestar Galactica”), is filming in Scotland and is scheduled to premiere in the spring.
