Lenovo has unveiled its new Android-based “Yoga” tablets reportedly co-designed by Ashton Kutcher, devices that the company calls the “world’s thinnest tablet.” The device has an unconventional form factor, with a thick rounded edge containing most of the electronics and battery, tapering all the way to the edge of the tablet.

The design of the tablet allegedly comes from Lenovo’s extensive study of tablet use, though critics have noted that the tablet strongly resembles an Apple Bluetooth keyboard. Lenovo claims to be mimicking readers perusing a magazine one-handed.

The Lenovo Yoga is a quad-core 1.2GHz device, with 1GB of RAM. Internal storage is 16GB or 32GB, depending on model, with expansion possible up to 64GB with a SD card. Two sizes will be available at launch — eight-inch and 10-inch sizes, both at 720p resolution. Lenovo claims that the 9000 mAh battery in the tablet will give the user 18 hours of use in the 10-inch model, and 6000 mAh in the eight-inch model runs for 16 hours. The device will be available in both Wi-Fi only, and 3G models.

The tablet is expected tomorrow in the US starting at $249 and $299 for the 8 and 10-inch models respectively.
