Lenovo has unveiled new entries in its S Series line of laptops, the IdeaPad S300, S400, and S405. The new laptops each measure less than an inch thick and weigh less than four four pounds. The S Series entries bear a metallic finish and contain either Ivy Bridge processors from Intel or AMD A-Series processors. The new models come with up to a 14-inch HD widescreen display, HDMI output, stereo speakers, and Dolby Advanced Audio v2 certification.
The IdeaPad S300 and S400 come with Intel Core i3 or i5 processors. They’ll have up to 500GB HDD storage with an optional 32GB SSD for the S400. Lenovo’s battery management technology provides for up to five hours between charges and is said to boost the long-term durability of the battery.
The S405 can feature up to an AMD A8 quad-core processor. It comes with up to 1TB HDD storage and an optional 32GB SSD.
All three models come with Microsoft Windows 7 Home Professional installed and are eligible for the Microsoft Windows 8 upgrade program. They each feature Lenovo’s S Series intelligent touchpad, which is designed for the Windows 8 user experience. Each also comes with an AccuType keyboard featuring individual rounded keys for more accurate typing.
The three models feature Lenovo Quick Start “instant on” functionality, allowing them to wake from sleep and get online in seconds. Lenovo’s new notebooks also feature a OneKey Rescue System, which allows for quick backup, virus scanning, and data recovery.
The IdeaPad S300, S400, and S405 went on sale this week, and each model is available through Lenovo sales representatives and business partners in the US. Pricing starts at $499.
