LG Electronics Inc. will be providing displays to both Honda Motor Co Ltd and Porsche. The South Korean company is trying to grow its business with the new project. Recently the sales of the LG televisions and smartphones had been dwindling. Providing center displays for car companies is sure to spike the economical graphs of the company.
Reuters first reported the news, apparently obtained from a source close to the company. Thus far LG Electronics is declining comment on this news.
LG has reportedly already started the production of the center displays. The information displays will be placed in the cars at the center consoles. The first batch of the displays will be given to Honda. Shortly LG will also start production on displays for Porsche. The displays for Porsche will be provided by the first half of 2016. No further details on the contracts between LG and the automakers are known yet.
The center displays will be made with the liquid crystal display panels. LG electronics have not responded for a comment on the matter. LG along with its sister firm LG displays has been delving in various projects. In the April to June quarter the company had 3.2 percent sales of displays and camera systems. LG is also working on various other display devices for cars. LG has also been working with BMW, General Motors and Mercedes Benz for research in center information displays.
